Greetings...
This is the first newsletter from our non-profit organization and we hope that it will excite you about the possibilities of helping those in need in Nepal.
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world with a per capital income of less then $200.
The problems of Nepal can be addressed, like the problems of the world, in a very direct manner--one ill person at a time, one street kid at a time, one desitute person at a time.
I hope that you will make this organization your way to help those in need.

Our Mission:
We support and create charitable programs designed to not only address material needs, but to foster self-sufficiency, cooperation and community.
We_support visionary programs that:
~ enhance the health, education and welfare of children
~provide education, health care
and economic support for impoverished women in underdeveloped countries
~provide health care to those who do not have access to such services._
Our current focus is on Nepal and Tibet.

Medical Aid:_
ATNI helps with medical care for indigent people in Nepal and Tibet and in the most desperate cases, we
coordinate the patients travel and specialized medical care and surgery
in the USA._
Nyima Dondrup is a young boy in a remote area of eastern Tibet who is
suffering from advanced scoliosis, a condition where the spine (cont.p 2)

corkscrews, creating tremendous pain, and without intervention, death.
_Nyima's lama asked us to help him, since there is no possibility of the kind of advanced surgery he needs in his part of the world. An ATNI volunteer is currently helping Nyima in Tibet and will escort him to the US. Once here, he will undergo a complex, but life saving operation.
You can help by sending your tax-deductible contributions to aid
this_boy. He will need medical and dental care, food, clothing, tutoring_and airfare.
You can also help by being a host for Nyima. Contact us for details if you might be interested in being Nyima’s family while he is in the US.

Rehabilitation Programs to help people in Nepal with disabilities- blindness, leprosy and deformity - through rehabilitation and education for a useful life._

The Volunteers Program to match the skills of volunteers from the USA and Europe with charitable work in Nepal.

Adoption Agency for Nepali Children to facilitate the adoption of orphaned children by parents in the USA.

Street Kids Go To School:_
Many displaced and orphaned children live on the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal._ These children, who are often runaways from slave-like conditions in carpet factories,_suffer from disease, malnutrition and neglect, but will now have a chance to have a roof over their heads, consistent food in their_ stomachs and an education._
We work closely with Rokpa International, an organization that oversees the intervention work _and schooling of street kids.
You can help by donating any of the following needed items or the funds to buy them:
~45 pairs of school shoes;
~40 school bags;
~50 pairs of rubber boots;
~ 20 raincoats;
~200 pairs of children's socks; ~childrens' books.
You can also help by sponsoring a child. _$650 a year will take a boy or girl off the street and house, feed, cloth and educate the child for a year.
